If you update the app, I should not be required to go through a minute long setup experience after already being a paying subscriber. I am disgusted that the app would waste my time that way instead of continuing to allow me to use it the way I’m paying for it. Really close to cancelling my membership and deleting the app after that experience. Please be better. Update: the developer continues to waste my time with offers on app open that I cannot skip, and it’s gotten worse since my initial review. I cannot in good faith recommend this app.

I paid for the premium version of the app a long time ago. The company is trying to get me to sign up for this monthly subscription all the time and it’s annoying as all. On top of that the way they’ve change auto scrolling is such a huge downgrade.

I love this app, but to the team whose job it is to promote the premium version(s) of the app, please, for the love of god, stop making me swipe through 6 questions every time I open the app. I just want to look at tabs. Your app is so useful, but these constant, inescapable “user story” surveys, where I answer questions to customize a service I have no use for, makes me want to go back to a time before computers.

Mandatory sales survey on opening. UI that makes it seem like a subscription is necessary to use the app.

You’ve ruined a great product by trying to personalize experiences and target for subscriptions. Tech bro sellouts have struck again.

This app was known time as “Ultimate Guitar” for years and I really liked it. Suddenly, they charged me for a new service called “chords and lessons.” It turns out they may be tricking people into buying that with clickbait-type unavoidable pop ups. Lots of complaints online. Avoid this app.

The last three times today I’ve opened the app I’ve gotten three different unskippable obnoxious questions that I don’t want to answer, to unlock features I don’t want and didn’t ask for. I pay for this app to access the paywalled tabs, and to use the tuner. That’s it, should be a simple ask, but they need more of my info to give me AI features or whatever—why isn’t there a way to opt out of these like any other app would have? Here’s a feature that’d be nice—allow me to ask for equivalent banjo chord diagrams from guitar tabs, I’d love that.

I’ve been using Ultimate Guitar for a decade. I REALLY LIKED the manual scrolling speed of tabs that had been the standard for so long. I DO NOT LIKE the new AI version that’s supposed to automatically scroll the lyrics for me. It doesn’t work! I don’t like it! Please bring back the option of manually adjusted scrolling.

I can’t speak highly enough about UG. I would like to request a feature to be considered for future updates…. Another source we use for music in our praise group allows me to view and print chord sheets in double columns. This is a much easier format to work from. Think it’s something we can look forward to, UG Team? Much love!!!!

Please stop spamming me with the same UNSKIPPABLE survey every update asking what I play and what I’d like to learn to play and if I’d like to buy this book and following it all up asking me for $13 + tax a month for a paid version. I just use this app as a quick reference tool every few weeks and the free version is all I need (even though I bought premium 10+ years ago before it was a subscription and y’all retcon’d my account, but that’s neither here nor there). I’ve been playing guitar my whole life and have a bachelor’s in music; never once have I encountered someone who /needed/ the paid version of this app. Make that survey skippable and don’t throw popups for premium at me incessantly and then we’ll talk five stars.

So, I downloaded the app, and I found some good materials. I’m not gonna lie; I thought I could learn from those courses, so I enrolled in the courses membership to discover that they don't work. It stops like just stops out of nowhere, not the connection not the phone, but the course, so I have to exit the app and come back few times until it works thet’s if it works so basically I need an hour to watch a 10 minutes lesson. Trust me forget it and Don’t waste your money and time.

How dare you make me pay to be able to use a tab. Genuinely go screw yourselves.

I’ve been using this app for a couple of years now. I’ve found every song I’ve searched for. The contributors are amazing. Being able to transpose to find a pitch that fits my voice is a great feature. I often find myself thinking of a song and then running across many others I hadn’t realized I wanted to learn as well. I have spent many hours building skills and my sets. It’s the only song learning tool I use. It’s just great!

Every time there is an update you force users to answer a bunch of questions to upsell products. This has happened 3 times now while getting ready to use the app for performances causing delays and the tabs to re-download. It has definitely become a problem!! Find another way. I’m about done answering the questions for courses I will never buy just so I can get to my tabs!!!

This app is horrible. Paywalls for everything. Can’t even play Spotify in the background without the app stopping it. What’s the solution? PAY MONEY. As if the ADS put EVERYWHERE aren’t earning enough money. This app is garbage.

I pay for a pro subscription and every time I log in I am ambushed with a rabbit hole to buy other service. And getting out of it take mi ures and is highly annoying. Support is an idiot bot.

Love love love it- I’ve grown so much. I would be lost without it- but my goal is to not need it because I’ve learned to play the songs from memory- but everything you need is here

I can no longer pin chords. Seems this functionality was lost several updates ago. I see frequent updates and I’m hoping this issue will be solved, yet I’m further disappointed. Please fix!

Never mind that you have to answer the quiz every time you open the app, now the ads will stop my music no matter what. Finally getting rid of this useless app.

This app used to be huge tool for professional musicians for requests and random songs that we couldn’t prep for. I could count on opening this app, looking up a chord chart and hitting auto scroll. Now I can’t open the app without going through a questionnaire to optimize my experience and yet, every addition made to this app has made me like it less. I didn’t need a social media account, I didn’t need it to listen as I play and I can’t stand the constant worrying about selling me a subscription to another feature. I pay to use the basic options and anymore can barely do it without pop ups and hurdles. It used to be a great app for a working musician, now it’s getting too over thought.

Please whatever yall did messed up your entire app. It’s so slow now 😭

I can’t even get to the basic things in this app because of the annoying and ridiculous workflows on boot up that ask you 100 questions you don’t care to answer and there’s no way out of. Disgusting user experience. Desperate to convert $.

The app was ok but new update it has pop-ups for their courses and you can't get off the screen without saying continue and then it wants you to purchase the additional program I already pay for the app this is stupid

I used to love ultimate guitar, but now you can’t even auto scroll without having some version of premium. It’s ridiculous. I even paid for premium and it still wouldn’t let me do anything. I don’t understand why we have to pay to transpose too. If you want more users, give us more to do for free. Like transpose and auto scroll.

I used to love this app until it started to periodically force you to take unwanted surveys before allowing you to access your data.

I’m happy to use the app but every time I open it now, it makes me go through several questions trying to get me to buy something else. Turns the moment of wanting to learn a song into being annoyed and closing the app. I get you want to expand and make more money but this marketing ploy isn’t working on me, it’s having the opposite effect.

Not at all pleased with the subscription option because most of the pro features aren’t available anymore. The pro chords/tabs for the official version of the songs is non existent. It’s not worth $40 just to have auto scroll and no adds I’m buying printer ink thanks for wasting my time and my money

They lie and pretend like you get more for free with the app but jump through all their hoops to find out they just lied, force you to pay and then they got your email to spam you!!! Absolute garbage!

If I buy an app, I don’t want to be bombarded with messages telling me to buy it again. Every time I open the app, there is a pop up with some new sale or something, incredibly annoying. Stop spamming me with AI garbage. Please just let me use the app.

I pay to use official tabs but every time i click it says “not available.” Why even pay? And on top of that there is constant pop ups asking you to pay for additional services after you’ve already paid. It’s like its trying to trick you. Lots of bugs including the premium subscription. Bad user experience and design. Dont buy.

I used to really enjoy this app and am in my 3rd year using it. Over the last 4 to 6 weeks or so tabs will not open more often than not - I get “oops tabs not available - try again later”. It has been getting progressively worse. Today has been the worst I’ve seen it - I have not been able to open any new songs all day today. I have the latest iOS version and the latest app version. I think the worst part is after combing the app and website, I was unable to find anywhere to contact for support which is a shame on a premium app. So I’ll use this review to try to get some support or explanation. As I decide whether or not to renew my subscription.

Miss the ability to play along with the recording and video. How can I recover that feature?

I love it! You can pretty much play any song with the free version my only complaint is you cannot transpose with the free version but other than that it’s great!

UPDATE: I have a subscription now and giving the app another try BUT every time I try to open the app there is an and it a new login screen with questions and unable to pass the questions. SUCH A BUZZKILL. I KEEP DELETING THE APP AND REINSTALLING BUT NO USE. WHAT A WASTE OF AN APP. I ALREADY HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION BUT I AM GETRING AN AD TO FREE TRIAL FOR A SUBSCRIPTION. I ALREADY ENTERED MY LOGIN INFO BUT I AM LOCKED IN TO THE AD SCREEN. IT IS WAY EASIER TO CREATE MY OWN CHART ON PAPER AND PEN THAN DEAL WITH THIS JUNK. UGHHH. ——///——///——///—— I downloaded the app again to give it another try. I can’t get past the survey questions. I don’t want to answer any questions. I just want to use the app. I am trying to use the website instead. Both on iPhone.

I have been trying to get a reponse back from support staff for a problem with the capo feature on my ug pro plan. I am not satisfied at all.

My saved tabs disappear and reappear. Sometimes I have access to music and then sometimes I don’t. I think the price is high for music tablature because most of it is from us as amateur tab artists.

Awesome app

I had a couple hundred tabs saved. When I opened it today it forced me to log in, and erased everything I had saved, including a couple I had created. Now the tabs are full of ads, the functionality has changed, and I have no reason to keep it. I’m definitely not paying $30/week for this. Sad. Shame on you and goodbye.

Terrible app. Paid for the subscription, and the app continued to present like I hadn’t. Then, the app said there was a special promo and that I would get refunded for any existing memberships. I tried that, got billed for it, and never got refunded for the existing charge.
